"21 Jump Street" is able to balance the buddy-cop genre and high school partying drama very effectively. Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill have great chemistry and are a hilarious duo. The script is smartly written. It has plenty of laugh out loud jokes, as well as a smart story. This film can struggle with falling into gross-out jokes, but for the majority of the film the jokes are genuinely funny. The supporting cast is great. Dave Franco, Ice Cube, and Brie Larson are all funny and fit their characters very well. This film is self-aware and is not afraid to own up to it's own clichés. The story is well-written and effectively satires teen dramas. It doesn't just poke jokes constantly at the genre, but also has a good teen drama story. The characters are well-written and are sympathetic. It is a very well put together comedy that is a dun one to watch every once in a while. Overall, I give this film a 7.5/10.
