"Cars" may not be Pixar's best movie, but it does have its moments. This movie tells the story of a hot-headed race car, Lightning McQueen, that gets lost and winds up in an all but forgotten small town, Radiator Springs. McQueen learns lessons in humility and family that change him into a better version of himself. His arc is really a good one. We see his full development from a prideful hot-shot to a humble friend. All of the plot devices that happen while he is in Radiator Springs are paid-off by the end of the movie. There are some fun moments and some good humor. Some of the dialogue hasn't aged too well, but overall is still decent. The voice cast does a good job. Owen Wilson, Bonnie Hunt, Paul Newman, and Larry the Cable Guy all do just enough to bring their characters to life. The visuals are good, as is the standard for Pixar, but are not as breathtaking as other Pixar movies. Pixar has a very high standard, and "Cars" does fall a bit short of this standard. However, it is still a fun entry into the Pixar filmography. The story may not be too original, but the fun plot devices save it from being overly stale. There are some dull moments, and it does feel a bit stretched out, but this is a fun movie even if it is not the best from Pixar. Overall, I give this movie a 7/10.
