Daniel Day-Lewis steals this film with his portrayal of a selfish oil man. He is willing to put on any sort of ac to convince people to support him in his oil business, even if that means getting dirty. Paul Dano plays opposite Day-Lewis as a scheming, fraudulent preacher. Each are only interested in their own success and bottom line. Both actors do great. Paul Thomas Anderson directs this film masterfully. The cinematography is great and the score adds great emotion to every scene. This film is a modern masterpiece. It is an easy story to follow, but it is all the subtle details that give this film so much meaning. This is a very well crafted film. It has some moments that are slow, but the performances from the leads carry us through the slowest parts. The story is heart-wrenching as we watch Day-Lewis' character show his truer colors as a selfish pig. We start off cheering for him, but by the end we start to hate him. There Will Be Blood is a great case study of human greed and selfishness. Overall, I give this film an 8/10.
