A strange mix of modern music and 14th century sporting, "A Knight's Tale" is a movie that can't and shouldn't be taken too seriously. This movie is corny, but it is also entertaining. It is easy to watch and is mostly rather enjoyable. Heath Ledger stars in the lead role and does a good job. The acting as a whole is decent, but none of the performances are overly memorable. The story is a stereotypical underdog story, but in medieval times. The plot follows many of the same threads as other underdog story, making this movie predictable and familiar. The romantic arc in the story can be fun but is not too compelling. Some of the cinematography is good and creates some excitement, especially during the jousting scenes. "A Knight's Tale" is the epitome of a guilty pleasure movie, and it does really well at being just that. With a blend of sport, romance, and humor, this movie becomes a strange but entertaining piece of film. Overall, I give this film a 7/10.
