"Battleship Potemkin" is a 1925 silent Soviet propaganda film directed by Sergei Einstein. The story is exciting and engaging. However, it is the use of editing that makes this film a classic. It is masterfully shot and tactfully edited. This movie performs these aspects better than even some modern films. The montage editing techniques have influenced several fils since it's release. The imagery can be haunting with it's brutality and realism. There may not be an abundance of characters to follow, but the way the story is told, there is not a very strong need for characters. The political upheaval in the film is shown in great detail and artistic fervor. When it comes to silent film, and film in general, "Battleship Potemkin" is a must watch. Overall, I give this film an 8.5/10.
