Jack Nicholson steals this film as he is great in his portrayal of The Joker. Director Tim Burton orchestrated a darker tone for this tale of the caped crusader and it works out very well. Danny Elfman's score is great, and is what many (including myself) consider to be Batman's true theme. This film has some good action and the story is decent. However, these areas could have been enhanced. The story's pacing is inconsistent, and some of the action scenes could have been choreographed better. Burton not known best for being an action director, and it shows. The dialogue is sharp, and a lot of the Joker's lines are humorous and sinister. Michael Keaton does a solid job as Bruce Wayne/Batman, but Nicholson steals every scene he is in as the Joker. This may not be the best Batman movie made, but it did help in getting comic book adaptations to be taken more seriously. This is a fun film even with it's flaws. Overall, I give this film a 7.5/10.
