The sequel to Wreck-it Ralph builds upon its predecessor's premise and introduces the protagonists Ralph and Vanellope to the world of the internet. As a whole, this film does not have quite the same magical touch that the first one had. It does things well that a sequel needs to do, by building upon the first film's premise and seeing the protagonists grow beyond their experiences in the first film. The animation is great and the story is mostly engaging. The story is relatable today with "finding where you belong" being a common journey for many people. The humor is charming and the characters move the story along at a great pace. Sometimes the film seems a bit flatter and more forced than the original, but the animation and action exceed the original. Additionally, the voice cast does a great job, and the return of many original Disney princess voice actors is tasteful. The plot lines between the two are similar, but we learn more about the main characters in the process. This film has about the same highs but lower lows than the first film, but the frequency of lows is low as well. Overall, I give this film a 7/10.
