This 1999 film, even with an $82 million budget cannot shake a B-movie feel. The story is ridiculous. Outside of Samuel L. Jackson, the acting is subpar. The effects are for the most part, cartoony. Some of the scenes are intense, but for the most part it is predictable and cliché. This movie feels more like a Sharknado movie than an actual Hollywood production. The set productions are nice, and can create feelings of claustrophobia. However, the characters, story and dialogue all combine to make this film very campy. If you want to watch a shark attack movie, put on Jaws, not this one. The characters make decisions that don't make logical sense. This makes them unsympathetic and uninteresting. Perhaps it is the sheer cheesiness of this movie that can make it enjoyable to watch for some, but for most people this is a movie to not spend time seeing. If you like movies with cheap thrills, minimal story, and sharks, check this out. If you aren't in to that type of movie, don't watch it. Overall, I give this film a 5/10.
