Catchy songs, a captivating story, and great cinematography make "Chicago" a great musical. Renée Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Richard Gere, Queen Latifah, and John C. Reilly all have great performances, not only in the singing parts, but also in the story moving dialogue moments. Occasionally there is some over the top rapid-fire editing, but for the most part of the film it is well put together. The story is about the underbelly of showbiz and the scumbaggery that occurs. First time director, Rob Marshall, adapt the famous broadway musical very effectively to the big screen. This movie is very dazzling, and it's dazzle is on full display during every musical number. This can get a bit much, but it is not entirely overbearing on the glamour. This is a great modern musical and is a great movie to see at least once. Overall, I give this film an 8/10.
