"Beauty and the Beast" is a tale as old as time and it is still as great as ever. The animation is great, especially when the Beast and Belle dance in the ballroom. Even nearly 30 years after this movie's release, that is still an eye-popping scene. The music is some of Disney's best and most memorable. The songs are all classics in the Disney canon of music. They are fun, move the story along, and develop the characters. "Beauty and the Beast" is a great example of using songs to advance the plot of a movie. This classic fairytale has a great female lead in Belle. She is strong, smart, and independent. The movie is very well written, and although it is a children's movie, it will leave adults satisfied also. There is great emotion in the storytelling that can make the viewer laugh and cry. The animation, namely the ballroom scene, it visually stunning. The characters are all very fun and entertaining. This is definitely one of the best Disney cartoons ever made, and it is easy to see why this was nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars when it was released. Overall, I give this film a 10/10.
