Avengers: Age of Ultron may not be as memorable as the first Avengers movie, but it definitely has it's moments. James Spader plays the A.I. villain, Ultron, and does a great job of bringing a cold human tough to the machine. The dialogue in the film has a fair amount of humor, while also being smart as well. The action sequences are fun and big. However, the plot is slow-moving and often times dull. The dynamic between the heroes and villain does not match up to the Thor-Loki connection in the original film. One of the problems with this film is that there are so many characters it tries to develop, and for the most part they don't change or grow at all. The acting is good, but there is not as much substance given to the characters like there was in the first film. Outside of Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch, Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, and Spader's Ultron, there aren't any other characters that I felt were deepened. The effects are great, and so is the action. It is a fun superhero film but is not the best. Overall, I give this film a 7/10.
