"The Good Dinosaur" is one of the very rare misses from Pixar. The animation is absolutely breathtaking, but other than that, this movie does not have much going in its favor. The story revolves around a runt dinosaur, Arlo, who wants to "make his mark." He is constantly screaming in fear it seems and he learns to be brave. It's a message and story we have seen done before, so it doesn't feel very original. Arlo is just an okay character. He suffers the loss of a parent and overcomes hardships, so we can cheer him on rather easily. He just comes across as annoying rather than compelling. There are some fun moments, but overall the plot feels clunky and overstretched. The voice acting is decent but nothing special. This really feels more like Pixar showing off its animating abilities. There is some beautifully animated sets. Just a shame the movie is not memorable outside of the animation aspect. Overall, I give this movie a 5.5/10.
