"How to Train Your Dragon 2," effectively builds on the premise of its predecessor and tells a different story with raised stakes. However, I don't think this installment quite reaches the first one's storytelling and morals. This film has better action sequences and there are consequences to the action. Hiccup continues his growth from the previous film and takes on a larger role for his community. In the first film there are no main characters killed off, but the same cannot be said of this film. Again, Dreamworks has crafted an amazing animated movie, and this film (much like the previous film) can appease both children and adults. The voice acting is great and all of the characters grow and are very relatable. This movie is just as good as the first film in a lot of ways, it just doesn't quite have the same powerful lessons taught as the first film. Overall, I give this film an 8.5/10.
