"Jurassic Park" may not be flawless, but it is still one of best movies out there. Director, Steven Spielberg, gets the best out of each of the actors in the film. Sam Neil, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and all of the other cast members do very well at bringing their characters to life. Even the kid actors do a good job, not perfect, but good enough. The storytelling in the movie is great. The setup in the first half has great pay-off in the final act of the movie, which in turn makes the movie feel very satisfying. The action is suspenseful and the effects still hold up very well. Taking into account that this movie is from 1994 and the effects are as good as they are is very impressive. This movie is one of the most influential movies ever due to its advancements in visual effects. George Lucas was inspired by Jurassic Park's effects so much that he thought he could pull off the Star Wars prequels, but sadly his effects are more rushed and over-used. There is a sense of awe and wonder that is captured perfectly in both Spielberg's direction and John Williams' score. The music in Jurassic Park adds great emotion to the film, much like it does in "Jaws" another Spielberg and Williams masterpiece. Whether you are a kid who loves dinosaurs or an adult that likes great movies, this is right up your alley. The script is very well written and tells an equal balance of the story by showing and telling. There are a few gaffs here and there with the effects and/or situations that don't make a whole lot of sense, or you have to use outside material to understand it better. For instance, a velociraptor pops its head through the ceiling and then falls to several feet. After it falls, it is too far below to have feasibly made its head pop up where it did. There is no chair or anything for it to have lifted itself up. There are little things like that here and there that are just not as well thought out as the rest of the movie. However, the thrills are real and the action is great. This really is a master work of cinema and is as fun to watch for the hundredth time as it was the first time. All in all, this is an all-time great movie. Overall, I give this movie a 9.5/10.
