"House of 1000 Corpses" feels like Rob Zombie's homage to grindhouse movies. It has a lot of similarities to "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" but is not near as good. The story is familiar, some young adults stumble onto a rural town and fall victim to torture and death at the hands of the sadistic residents. There are some really weird moments, and the movie just feels like a bad, nauseating dream. The dialogue is especially bad. On top of that, the acting is so over-the-top and it gets old really quick. This movie does have a pre-Office Rainn Wilson and I do wish his character was in the movie a bit more. Additionally, it has "The Talking Dead" host, Chris Hardwick. He's not a great actor but it is fun to see him in an acting role. There are some gory moments and that's about all this movie is good for honestly. It is very campy and very clunky. There are these Rob Zombie song moments that cut into scenes and although they do serve a purpose, there are too many of them and they become redundant and annoying. This movie is enjoyable as a guilty pleasure movie and that's about it. Overall, I give this movie a 3.5/10.
