"WALL-E" boasts some of Pixar's best animation to date. Whether it is the post-apocalyptic earth or space, the animation is stellar. The only things that reminded me that this is an animated movie were the animated people. They are the most cartoonish looking figures in this movie. 'WALL-E" has very little dialogue throughout its first half. It is a great showcase of storytelling through actions and not through words. Once the movie transitions from earth to the spaceship, the storytelling gets a lot more vocal, but there is still a lot of showing which is great. The movie's story is about a little nobody robot with a big imagination, WALL-E, whose life changes dramatically when he meets a new robot from space. The new robot, EVE, has been sent by humans living on a spaceship to search the abandoned earth for evidence of life-sustainability. WALL-E shows here a little plant and she begins her protocol of bringing that plant to the spaceship's captain. WALL-E loves EVE and follows her on her mission. He touches several human and robotic lives for the better. There are several themes throughout this movie. ne important one is about the environment and the need for us to take care of it now so that we don't ruin the planet in the future. Another is that humans need to unplug from electronics and socialize face-to-face and exercise. Illumination's "The Lorax" attempted at sharing an environmental message but was too preachy and one-note to really have an impact. "WALL-E" on the other hand does very well at delivering its messages. "WALL-E" is not perfect. it does feel like it was a concept for a couple of Pixar shorts that got stretched and put together in a feature length film. Pixar hits more often than they miss with their films, and this is definitely one of their biggest hits. We develop a real connection to the robots and are taken on a fun adventure as well as an emotional roller coaster with them. This may not be Pixar's best movie ever, but it is on the higher end for sure. Overall, I give this movie an 8/10.
