"The Greatest Showman" falls a bit short of being the "greatest show". It has some phenomenal elements, but it is lacking in others. The acting is great and the music is very catchy and good. Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, Zac Efron, Zendaya and others are all very into their roles and sell their characters greatly. Having the actors use their real singing voices was a great choice since they all are capable of singing well. The cinematography is fantastic with colorful lighting and interesting camera movement. However, the story is lacking very impactful content. It may be a film for children, but movies like The Lion King, Toy Story, and Coco were able to make compelling stories into child-friendly themes, and I would have liked for this film to dive deeper into those themes. These are very capable things to accomplish in a children's movie. With all this being said, it is a dazzling movie and the music is truly great. It is a really fun movie that is a good popcorn feel-good film. At the end of the day it can make you happy. This is a good movie, but falls short of being great. Overall, I give this a 7/10.
