7This film is a strong depiction of the iconic president, Abraham Lincoln, during his struggles to abolish slavery in the United States. Daniel Day-Lewis gives an amazing performance as Lincoln and director Steven Spielberg does not disappoint choreographing this film. There are several shots in this film that are rather beautiful. John Williams scores this with a more mild solemn number. This film is a very informative and interesting watch. However, it can play a bit dull and long at times. The dialogue is important as it shows the democratic process of trying to sway votes, but this film can feel like watching a CNN segment from the Civil War era. Beside these moments, this film is a very solid one. It is definitely worth a viewing and perhaps another occasional viewing every once in a while on President's Day. It can assist you in understanding what kind of man Lincoln was during his final months, and perhaps his most triumphant. Overall, I give this film an 7.5/10.
